Round face glasses: a real makeover from r/glasses
Someone on r/glasses shared 14 frames and asked for help. Here is how we found a better pair in SpecFit, step by step.
The post: 14 frames, no clear winner
The poster tried on 14 frames in a shop and shared a selfie in each one.
They asked which pair to pick over the ones they have now.
We went through the photos one by one. Here are the ones that stood out.

- Photo 1: the pair they wear today. A plain black rectangle.
- Photo 2: clearly too big. The frame runs past the sides of the face.

- Photo 3: the bridge sits very high on the nose. Photo 4 has the same problem.
- Photo 5: same high bridge. The gold cat-eye covers the eyebrows and sits too high on the face.

- Photo 7: the best of the bunch. It has a light cat-eye. But it still covers the brows and does not balance the face.
- Photo 9: too big in every way. So is photo 10. Photos 12 to 14 do not suit the face shape either.
The pattern was clear. This person likes gold rims and cat-eyes. But every pick was too big, or sat too high.
Step 1: scan the face in SpecFit
We put their photo into SpecFit with Use a Photo. The app mapped the face and read its shape.

- Face shape: round, leaning square. Cheeks and face length are close to equal.
- Size: eyes 65 mm apart. Face 140 mm wide.
- What suits it: oval frames or smaller rectangles. A little cat-eye is fine, if you like it.
Step 2: try three shapes on the face
Next we tried each shape on their own photo. SpecFit shows a match score for each one.

- Small rectangle: a thin silver frame. It looks balanced and frames the face well. But its straight top does not follow the curve of the brows. That made it second best.
- Oval: a tortoise frame. It follows the curve of the brows. It looks balanced and frames the face well. This was the best one.
- Slight cat-eye: a clear rectangle with a small lift at the corners. It sits below the brows and low on the nose. So it looks great too.

We tried the oval from a saved photo of a frame. The app scored it 58, lower than the cat-eye at 77.
Its notes said the frame was a bit round for the face. On the face, though, it followed the brows best. So we went with our eyes.
The best pick, and why it works

- Below the brows: the brows stay in view, so the face looks open.
- Follows the brow curve: the top line copies the brows, not a flat bar.
- The right size: the frame ends at the sides of the face, not past them.
- Lower bridge: it sits lower on the nose than the shop frames did.
They can try other colours too. If they want a cat-eye, the slight one works, as long as it stays low.
Do the same for your face
- Take one clear photo: face the camera in good light.
- Read your shape: let SpecFit map your face and measure its width.
- Try three shapes: pick the shapes it suggests, plus one you love.
- Check the brows: the frame top should sit at or just below them.
- Check the sides: the frame should end where your face ends.

What glasses suit a round face?
Oval frames and smaller rectangles work well. Keep the frame below your brows and no wider than your face. A soft cat-eye can work too, if it stays low.
Why do my glasses cover my eyebrows?
The frame is too tall, or the bridge sits too high. Look for a lower bridge and a top line that follows your brows.
Can I try frames on my own face before I buy?
Yes. SpecFit reads your face shape from one photo. Then it shows each frame on your own face.
