Glasses too big for your face? A real fix
Someone on r/glasses got mixed reviews on a new pair. We looked at why, then tried four frames on her face in SpecFit.
The post: mixed reviews on new glasses
She posted six photos in her new glasses on r/glasses. She asked for thoughts. The replies were mixed.
Mixed reviews often mean one thing. The glasses do not really suit the face.
The glasses are nice on their own. The fit is the problem.

Three reasons the frame did not work

- Round bottom: her face is oval. A round lens bottom adds one more curve. It does not break up the face.
- Straight top: her brows arch. The flat top line of the frame does not match them.
- Too big: her face is narrow. The frame is wider and taller than it needs to be.
- Dark and thick: a bold black rim adds weight. It makes a big frame look even bigger.
Step 1: upload her photo to SpecFit
We uploaded the last photo from her post. It faces the camera in plain light, so it is the best one for a scan.
SpecFit read her face and its size. Then it listed frames for her, each with a match score.

Step 2: try three options
We tapped three styles to see each one on her face. Each render keeps her own photo, so only the glasses change.

- Round: a clear round frame. It adds even more curve to a soft face.
- Rectangle: the top score in the app. It is smaller, and it adds lines. But the top still sits flat across her brows.
- Like hers: a black frame close to the one she bought. It shows the same problems again.
Step 3: settle on the cat-eye
Then we tried a black cat-eye. Its score was lower, at 72. But on her face, it did the best job.

- Breaks up the face: the lifted corners add angles to her soft oval.
- Matches the brows: the top line follows the curve of her eyebrows.
- Right size: it is not too big. It ends where her face ends.

Do the same for your face
- Read the replies: mixed reviews are a hint. The size or shape may be off.
- Check the sides: the frame should end where your face ends.
- Check the top: it should follow your brows, at or just below them.
- Try a few shapes: upload one photo to SpecFit and tap three or four styles.
- Trust your eyes: use the score as a guide, then pick the one that looks best on you.

How do I know if my glasses are too big for my face?
Look at the sides first. The frame should end where your face ends. The top should sit at or just below your brows.
Do cat-eye glasses suit an oval face?
They often do. The lifted corners break up a soft face. Keep the frame no wider than your face.
Can I see frames on my face before I buy?
Yes. Upload one photo to SpecFit. Then tap a frame to see it on your face, with a match score.
