Oakley virtual try-on: how to use it and which size fits
Oakley's virtual try-on will show you a Holbrook on your face. It will not tell you if you need the Holbrook, XL, or XXL. On Oakley's sport frames, size matters more than colour.
SpecFit is not affiliated with Oakley. This guide is independent and covers the official Oakley tool alongside our own app.
Does Oakley have a virtual try-on?
Yes. Oakley runs a dedicated section on oakley.com.
- Covers: sunglasses and eyeglasses.
- How it works: it opens your webcam and detects your face.
- What you see: the frame on your live video, from any angle.
How to use Oakley's virtual try-on
- Step 1: go to the Virtual Try-On section, or a product page.
- Step 2: allow camera access.
- Step 3: the tool finds your face and places the frame.
- Step 4: switch styles and colours without restarting.
- Tip: entering your gender and pupillary distance can sharpen the fit.
Is Oakley's virtual try-on accurate?
It is a good way to compare shapes and colours.
- What it tracks: landmarks on your face, not real measurements.
- What it misses: your face width in millimetres.
- Why it matters: Oakley frames often span three or four sizes.
Our guide to how accurate virtual try-ons are covers this across brands. If the tool freezes, see virtual try-on not working.
Oakley sizing runs by fit variant
A base shape like Holbrook gets an XL or XXL version, scaled up. Here is what we could verify.
| Model | Variant | Lens width |
|---|---|---|
| Holbrook | Standard | 57mm |
| Holbrook | XL | 59mm |
| Holbrook | XXL | 61mm |
| Flak 2.0 | Standard | 58mm |
| Flak 2.0 | XL | 61mm (taller lens, not just wider) |
| Sutro | Standard | 37mm shield lens, 137mm total width |
| Sutro Lite | Standard | 39mm shield lens, 139mm total width |
- Shield frames: Sutro and Radar EV Path list total width, not a per-lens width.
- Rule of thumb: compare a total width to your temple-to-temple measurement.
- Low Bridge Fit: available on several models, built for a flatter nose bridge.
- Sliding or gapping? try a Low Bridge Fit version before sizing up or down.
For general rules, see our glasses size chart and how wide should glasses be?. For wide faces, see glasses for big heads and wide faces.

Sport frames and wraparound fit
The Radar EV Path wraps around the temple for side coverage. A flat screen cannot show that curve.
- What matters more: your temple-to-temple width.
- And: how your ears sit relative to your temples.
- Full check: see how should glasses temple arms fit?.
Oakley prescription glasses
The virtual try-on covers Oakley's eyeglasses too. It shows shape and colour, not your prescription.
- Progressives: check minimum lens height for progressive lenses.
- Strong prescriptions: see best frames for a strong prescription first.
Oakley Meta smart glasses
This line spans two styles.
- HSTN: everyday wear, splash-resistant.
- Vanguard: built for sport, more secure fit.
- Fewer sizes: the built-in camera and speakers limit size options.
- Check first: confirm current sizes on Oakley's or Meta's own listing.
- Cross-check: use your own temple-to-temple measurement too.

A fit check for any frame
SpecFit scans your face once and measures your face width, bridge and pupillary distance. It checks any frame against those numbers, including one from an Oakley link.
See the exact size on your own face, not just the shape. Paste a product link, photograph a pair, or pick from the curated wall. SpecFit checks the fit against your measured face before you buy.
Questions
Does Oakley have a virtual try-on?
Yes. Oakley runs a virtual try-on tool on oakley.com for sunglasses and eyeglasses. It uses your camera to detect your face. It overlays the frame in real time.
How accurate is Oakley's virtual try-on?
It gives a workable read on shape and colour. It does not check a frame's real lens width against your face width. That is where Oakley's named sizes matter most.
What is the difference between Holbrook and Holbrook XL?
The Holbrook has a 57mm lens. The XL steps up to 59mm, and the XXL goes to 61mm. All three keep the same shape; only the scale changes.
Does Oakley's virtual try-on work with prescription glasses?
Yes, it covers Oakley's eyeglasses too. You can preview a prescription frame's shape and colour. It does not preview your actual prescription in the lens.
