Ray-Ban virtual try-on: how to use it and what size to pick
Ray-Ban's virtual try-on shows a frame shape on your face. It will not tell you which size code to order. On the Aviator or Wayfarer, size changes fit more than colour.
SpecFit is not affiliated with Ray-Ban. This guide is independent and covers the official Ray-Ban tool alongside our own app.
Does Ray-Ban have a virtual try-on?
Yes. Ray-Ban runs an official tool on ray-ban.com.
- How it works: it tracks your eyes, nose and mouth with your camera.
- What it shows: a 3D render of the frame on your live video.
- Where to find it: look for the Virtual Try-On icon on a product page.
- Note: not every frame on the site supports it.
How to use Ray-Ban's virtual try-on
- Step 1: open a frame's product page.
- Step 2: tap the Virtual Try-On icon.
- Step 3: allow camera access.
- Step 4: keep your face inside the on-screen guide.
- Step 5: turn your head to see the frame from the side.
Ray-Ban says your face data is used only for that session. It is not stored or shared after.
Is the Ray-Ban virtual try-on accurate?
It is a good first read on shape and colour.
- What it tracks: face landmarks, not real measurements.
- What it misses: your face width and pupillary distance.
- What changes the view: lighting, camera angle, and distance from the screen.
Our guide to how accurate virtual try-ons are covers this gap across every brand. If the tool will not load, see virtual try-on not working.
The part most people miss: which size to pick
Most Ray-Ban models ship in two or three lens widths. The try-on does not adjust for the size you picked.
Lens width is the first number in a frame's size code. It is the width across the lens in millimetres.
| Model | Code | Lens width options |
|---|---|---|
| Aviator Classic | RB3025 | 55mm, 58mm, 62mm |
| Original Wayfarer | RB2140 | 50mm, 54mm |
| New Wayfarer | RB2132 | 52mm, 55mm, 58mm |
| Clubmaster | RB3016 | 49mm, 51mm |
| Erika | RB4171 | 54mm, 57mm (low bridge fit), 58mm |
| Round Metal | RB3447 | 47mm, 50mm, 53mm |
| Hexagonal | RB3548 | 48mm, 51mm, 54mm |
- Wayfarer note: the New Wayfarer is a different shape from the Original. Compare the size numbers, not just the name.
- Erika note: 57mm is a low bridge fit, for a flatter nose bridge.

Sunglasses need a different fit check
For sun lenses, the top bar should sit at or above your brow line. Not below it.
- Why: a gap above the frame lets light in from above.
- Full rule: see should sunglasses cover your eyebrows? and how should sunglasses fit?.
- Why overlays struggle: dark lenses hide your eyes. See virtual sunglasses try-on.
Ray-Ban prescription glasses
The virtual try-on works the same way for optical frames. It shows shape and colour, not your prescription lenses.
- Fit still matters: a wide frame slides, a narrow one pinches, all day.
- Progressives: check minimum lens height for progressive lenses before a shallow shape like Clubmaster.
Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses
This line ships in fewer sizes than Ray-Ban's full range.
- Wayfarer style: Standard and Large sizes.
- Skyler style: one size.
- Headliner style: different bridge heights, not separate widths.
- Check first: confirm current sizes on Ray-Ban's or Meta's own listing.
Use your temple-to-temple measurement from how wide should glasses be? as a cross-check.

A fit check for any frame
SpecFit scans your face once and measures your face width, bridge and pupillary distance. It checks any frame against those numbers, including one from a Ray-Ban link.
See the exact size on your own face, not just the shape. Paste a product link, photograph a pair, or pick from the curated wall. SpecFit checks the fit against your measured face before you buy.
Questions
Does Ray-Ban have a virtual try-on?
Yes, Ray-Ban runs a virtual try-on tool on ray-ban.com. It uses your camera to track your face. It overlays a 3D model of the frame on your video.
How do I use Ray-Ban's virtual try-on?
Open a frame's product page and find the Virtual Try-On icon. Allow camera access and keep your head in the on-screen guide. The tool then shows the frame from different angles as you move.
Is the Ray-Ban virtual try-on accurate?
It is a good guide to shape and colour. It is not a measurement tool. It does not check the frame's real lens width against your face width.
What size Ray-Ban Aviator should I get?
The Aviator Classic RB3025 comes in 55mm, 58mm and 62mm. 58mm is the most common size and fits most faces. 55mm suits a narrower face, and 62mm suits a wider face.
